Diesel generators: Indispensable power supply  for safety-critical systems

Diesel fuel tanks that are rarely used or stored for long periods are prone to water accumulation and microbial contamination. This can lead to blocked filters, injection system damage, and costly maintenance.

The HYDAC Low Viscosity Unit (LVU-CD 600–8000) is a compact and efficient solution for diesel care systems. Designed to remove solid particle contamination and free water from diesel fuels, it ensures reliable operation, minimizes downtime, and extends the service life of diesel-powered systems. The LVU unit is ideal for applications that demand high fuel cleanliness and operational safety.

Applications

• Diesel generators – Ensures reliable start-up and continuous power supply

• Marine systems – Maintains clean fuel for propulsion and auxiliary engines

• Industrial installations – Supports fuel transfer and storage systems

• Remote power units – Prevents microbial growth and contamination in standby tanks

System Functionality

The LVU-CD system operates using three-stage offline filtration technology. It includes afeed pump, a high-efficiency filter housing, and a water separation unit. A built-in water sensor detects separated water and activates an automatic drain valve to remove it safely. The system can be used for transferring diesel from storage tanks to day tanks, or in bypass flow configurations for continuous cleaning.

Performance Characteristics

• Water separation efficiency up to 99%

• Particle removal efficiency greater than 99.9%

• Suitable for flow rates between 600 and 8000 l/h

• Continuous clogging monitoring through an integrated indicator

• Optional integration with control systems for remote supervision
